A group of disgruntled Busia County MCAs have been accused of organizing attacks on Deputy President William Ruto last week. Well-placed sources in Busia claimed the DP failed to honour a Ksh. 400,000.00 pledges to each ward through the MCS’s within the county. The source claimed top Ruto aides in the area pocketed most of the money only giving out a mere Ksh. 50,000 to be shared out by the MCAs.
The MCAs were left angry and described the cash as a “drop in the ocean” were left baffled at how to split the cash among themselves and to about 10,000 youths in the border town.
The 50k could barely do the rounds as some frustrated youth ended with Ksh. 50. The saying that a hungry man is an angry man ran its full course with attacks on the DP convoy. The MCAs are said to have later given alcohol to the rowdy youth who then lay in wait for DP Ruto’s motorcade.
The motorcade was barricaded near Nambale town with youth lighting borne fires, they later unleashed rocks and missiles destroying four cars. Quick action by police saved the DP.
