A protected witness on Monday told the Siaya High Court that he was paid Ksh.9,000 to transport suspects involved in the abduction and murder of Wells Fargo Human Resource Manager, Willis Ayieko, in October last year.
Three men, Victor Ouma Okoth alias Sisco, Samuel Onyango alias Jaboda, and Dancun Ochieng, appeared before Justice David Kemei to answer charges of orchestrating Ayieko’s brutal killing. The court heard harrowing testimony detailing how the suspects allegedly planned and executed the crime.
The witness, whose identity remains concealed for security reasons, claimed Sisco approached him days before the incident, asking for help securing a motorcycle for a “job” overseen by an individual identified as Champee, said to be one of the masterminds, now deceased.
The witness said he was unaware of the true nature of the operation. On October 18, he met Sisco and other suspects at a pub in Mutumbu Centre. He testified that Sisco and Champee later emerged from a dark area wearing different clothes and carrying firearms, including an AK-47 rifle.
They proceeded to a homestead where a funeral was underway. According to the witness, he stayed outside while the suspects returned with a bound and blindfolded man. They later stopped near a mud-walled house where the man, later identified as Ayieko, was reportedly escorted inside at gunpoint.
The witness added that Sisco later asked him to transport him to Kisumu for cash withdrawals, which were made at various M-Pesa outlets using a foldable phone. By morning, Sisco had returned to Dudi, collected his belongings, and mentioned he was heading to Nairobi for a new job.
The next day, the witness learned of Ayieko’s murder after being arrested by police.
During the same hearing, government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor confirmed that Ayieko died from severe head injuries. He noted signs of decomposition and missing body tissues. Ayieko’s body was discovered on October 23, 2024, in a shallow stream near the Siaya-Kakamega County border, five days after he was reported missing.
The case continues as the prosecution builds its narrative around what appears to be a meticulously planned and cold-blooded killing.
