Uhuru Breaks His Silence On Curfew

President Uhuru Kenyatta has broken his silence on the dusk to dawn curfew, hinting that he might extend the nationwide house arrest.

Speaking on Saturday, October 16 at the Kahawa Garrison during the 10th anniversary of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) day Uhuru jokingly said that he might extend the nationwide curfew.

“According to what I have seen here at Kahawa today, the nationwide curfew should just go on. There are so many children here. Let the curfew go on,” the President said.

The statement by Uhuru comes after Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kichumba Murkomen challenged him to immediately lift the nationwide curfew.

Murkomen asked the president to stop what he calls hypocrisy in the fight against Covid-19 and uplift the curfew.

He noted that it was not right for President Uhuru to impose a curfew on ordinary Kenyans yet he (Uhuru) and other politicians are conducting political rallies across the country.

According to Mukomen, the nighttime curfew is benefitting the political elite more than the ordinary Kenyans.

“The people who are suffering are more than the people benefiting from the curfew. We are urging President Uhuru Kenyatta to stop the hypocrisy,” Murkomen said.

Adding: “There are rallies all over today; Raila has a rally in Eldoret; Raila and Uhuru had a rally in Kibera; Deputy President has a rally in Mombasa.”

He further told the Head of State to ‘stop fooling Kenyans’ that the coronavirus only spread at night and not during the day. He, therefore, asked him to immediately lift the nighttime curfew before October 20.
