Tracing The Movements Of The KPA Staff Who Died Of Covid-19 In Siaya

James Oyugi 59 years old and an employee of KPA Mombasa who had been suspected to have died due to Covid 19 infection was tested yesterday and confirmed to have been positive. His travel History indicates as follows.


The deceased left Mombasa in the company of his second wife and two daughters on 5.4.2020 and slept in Nairobi on that day. On 6.4.2020 He left in His Personal Car with His 2nd Wife plus His 2 daughters for Siaya but got a non injury accident at Awasi market same day.

The Car was towed to Awasi police station and His Brother who lives in Kisumu sent Him a Car. He slept together with His family in Konalejo estate neighboring Kondele in Kisumu town and left for Ukwala in Siaya on 7.4.2020 using His Brother’s Car. He was indoors since then untill 10.4.2020 when He started coughing and was taken to Matibabu Foundation Hospital where He died.

From MOH instructions specimen were taken from His body immediately and sent to Kisumu. The same was confirmed positive for COVID – 19 Virus yesterday 11.4.2020.
Consequently a Covid – 19 response meeting was held same day 11/4/2020 at Ugenya Sub County hospital Boardroom and it was resolved that all the people who came into close contact with the deceased were to be taken to Siaya for compulsory quarantine.

The pro box and some motor bike riders who were also involved in the issue have to be rounded up for compulsory quarantine.
Other measures to be put in place included
Fumigation of the Matibabu hospital.
All vehicles used by the deceased and motorcycle were to be traced together with their drivers.

Operation to get other people who came into contact with the victim including where He slept in Kisumu and those who attended to the accident and close relatives will also be done.
