Speaking to the press outside Montezuma Funeral Home, the pathologist disclosed that a 28-year-old businessman was shot at close range.

“He was shot once on the left chest area. The bullet tore through the heart then there was a collapse of the left lung and a lot of bleeding on the left side of the chest.
Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor (Centre) flanked by officials from the DCI and Government Chemist. His autopsy report regarding Ken Walibora released on April 18, 2020, has raised questions.
“It is hard to answer (whether the incident was accidental) because that is based on the circumstance. When I look at the bullet, it was a close shot and entered his body at an elevated angle,” revealed the pathologist.
He further disclosed that Omwenga suffered severe injuries in his heart and lungs and must have died instantly after the shot went off.
“The bullet exited in his back area after going through his vital organs. It looks like someone who died instantly. With the injury to heart, he had little chance of survival,” he added.
Robert Bodo, a suspect in the murder of the businessman, confirmed that the shooting did take place albeit accidentally.
In a statement he recorded to the police on Sunday, August 23, the suspect, Robert Bodo Ouko, confirmed that the gun went off while the two were scuffling over the gun.
The shooting incident took place on Saturday, August 22, at Galana Suites in Kilimani estate.
In a police report, the deceased’s brother, Wycliff Omwenga, narrated that he was in preparing dinner in the kitchen when he heard a gunshot.
On approaching the direction where he heard the gunshot sound emanate from, Wycliff found Kevin lying, face down, with blood oozing from his chest. Bodo, on the other hand, was still in the room but in a hurry to leave.
Wycliff then rushed his brother to the Nairobi Women’s Hospital Adams branch, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
