Nyachae Hospitalized In ICU

The family of former powerful Cabinet minister Simeon Nyachae has revealed that the family patriarch is hospitalized.

On Thursday morning, Nyachae’s eldest son, Charles, via his social media accounts said the ex-Finance and Agriculture minister is receiving treatment and appropriate care.

“Following some unfortunate rumuors that have been circulating in social media in the last few hours, let me say that the said rumuors are not true,” Charles said on Facebook.

“Some person or persons created a fake Twitter account and earlier this evening (Wednesday) tweeted that my father had died. Not true,” he added.

Charles, who is a former Chairman of the defunct Constitution Implementation Committee (CIC) thanked friends who have been concerned and have sought clarification.

“Please keep him in prayers,” he said

South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro also dismissed the rumuors and said he had visited the former powerful Provincial Commissioner in hospital.

“Kindly ignore rumuors doing rounds about Mzee. By the grace of God, Mzee is taking his breath normally though hospitalized at the Nairobi Hospital,” Osoro posted.

He went on: “I am in the hospital and can authoritatively confirm that mzee is alive. Pray for his quick recovery from ICU.”

The 89-year-old Nyachae retired from active politics in 2007 after he failed to clinch the Nyaribari Chache parliamentary seat.

He emerged in the run-up to the 2017 General Election to back the re-election of the Jubilee administration.

A businessman and an entrepreneur, Nyachae is one of the most prominent personalities from the Gusii region.

The family has interests in the banking, agriculture, manufacturing, and construction sectors.
