Njeri Died From 3 Gunshots And Was Not Pregnant, Autopsy Report Reveals

A postmortem examination carried on the bodies of the late Philomena Njeri and her suspected killer husband Jonathan Gachunga on Friday, August 6, has revealed how the two died.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) in Kiambu, Dennis Wekesa, Njeri died as a result of three gunshot wounds while the husband was killed by a single gunshot wound.

Wekesa said the single gunshot that killed Gachunga entered through the right side of his head and exited on the left side.

Njeri’s two wounds were on the head and one on the abdomen.

The postmortem examination was carried out by Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor at the Kenyatta University Funeral Home.

The autopsy report also revealed that Njeri was not pregnant at the time of her death as earlier reported by the media.

Several media reports alleged that the husband killed Njeri when she got back home, after months of divorce, pregnant, something that irked Gachunga.

The reports also indicated that Gachunga was impotent and that he had stayed in the marriage for 12 years without siring a child with Njeri.

Neighbours who spoke to local media houses said Njeri was in dire need of a child and she always talked of being pregnant whenever she interacted with most of her friends.

It is for that reason that many claims emerged Gachunga shot her because of the alleged pregnancy.

Reports also indicated that the two had constant fights as a result of suspected infidelity.

As highlighted in some reports, Njeri is alleged to have been involved in a romantic affair with one of her staff at the spare parts shop she ran in Mlolongo.

On the fateful day, Njeri had gone to their Kiambu home for the first time in five months after they separated in March for unclear reasons, her domestic worker told a local media house.
