Kenyans online have expressed sympathy with the family of coast-based contractor Ronald Bundi Maucho who died on Christmas Day alongside his wife and three daughters.
Maucho and his family members died when his Subaru car collided head-on with a BMW at Engwata area while heading to his Kisii home from Mombasa for Christmas festivities
The family’s obituary was shared by Kenya Tourism Federation chairman Mohammed Hersi who said he knew the deceased.
“While he was in his lane, some mad BMW driver decided to come into his lane and crashed head-on while the BMW burst into flames burning the occupant beyond recognition,” Hersi said.
He further confirmed that two of Maucho’s family survived the horrible crash.
“The accident left an entire family dead save for their two young boys who are currently in the hospital who will now grow up without their loving parents,” he said.
Hersi added: “Late Ronald like many of us found new life at the Kenya coast and he made his mark in construction. A man who walked the narrow path of integrity.
“Hard work and commitment were his middle and surnames. Many homes in Diani and even Mombasa would have the footprint of Ronald.
“As schools reopen the desk of those little girls will be empty and their young friends not knowing what really happened, painful indeed.”
Facebook user Wangui K Watene mourned the family saying; “this is a really sad story of a careless driver driven by his own selfish ambition and wipes out a whole family. May God give the other members peace and quick recovery to the boys”.
John Waweru wrote: “Oh what a sad thing. May the Almighty God comfort their family. Let’s drive safely. Our children, parents, neighbors and the country need us to fulfill our destiny.”
