Lawyer Argued With Her Gym Instructor Boyfriend Over A Photo Of A Woman In His Phone Before He Suffocating Her

The lawyer who was found dead in her house in Syokimau, Machakos county on Friday was suffocated to death.

A post mortem conducted by Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor yesterday revealed that Elizabeth Koki also suffered some injuries on the mouth, consistent with a gag.

Detectives now believe the lawyer died of suffocation probably from a gag. “The victim was suffocated to death,” Oduor said after conducting the autopsy at the Montezuma Funeral home yesterday afternoon.

Preliminary investigations established that the main suspect, Eloges Paul Christian Kadima, who was the boyfriend to the deceased, had earlier bitterly argued with her over some photos of a woman on Kadima’s phone.

It has also been established that Koki, on the Friday that she met her death had summoned the Congolese national, who worked as a gymnasium instructor to the house, to question him about the photos.

A detective privy to the ongoing investigations yesterday told the People Daily that officers had also established that the two had frequent differences.

“The main suspect has been grilled and from the look of things, the two seem to have had an on-and-off relationship. They also have a history of fighting,” said the detective who spoke in confidence as he is not authorised to speak to the media said.

In a conversation between Kadima and his mother on Friday just before he was arrested, the suspect allegedly confessed to having had differences with the deceased moments before she died.

According to Kadima, he arrived home early in order to explain details about the photos but a bitter argument ensued between them.

Even though Kadima told police that Koki fell from the bed and hit her head on the floor, both investigations and the postmortem have established that she was suffocated to death.

In his statement to the police, Kadima claimed that upon realising that Koki was unconscious, he left the house and drove in her car to the Nairobi Central Business District (CDB), where he met a friend and narrated to him what had happened.

The friend later drove the car to Riruta while Kadima booked himself in a lodging within the CBD, he told the police.

It is from the yet to be named lodging that he was arrested the following day.

It is not clear when Koki fell in love with the Congolese national but it is on record that the two have on several occasions differed and even fought.

According to a former lover to Kadima who is expected to record a statement with the police today, Koki had in June 2020 reached out to her seeking information regarding Kadima’s character.

This was after Kadima assaulted her after she found romantic messages between him and a woman on his phone.

“She questioned him and the man turned violent, beat her up inside the family car and left her at the parking,” the lady who spoke in confidence told the People Daily

A close family member to Kadima revealed that the two had planned to wed this March.

“We have been preparing for the wedding only to be informed that Koki was no more,” the family member said.
