In a jaw-dropping twist straight out of a political thriller, Juja MP George Koimburi has been accused of masterminding his own abduction, to trigger political tension.
Top cops from the National Police Service (NPS) and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) now say the dramatic kidnapping tale was nothing but a well-scripted stunt aimed at winning sympathy and sparking political tension.
DCI boss Amin Mohamed and Police IG Douglas Kanja laid bare shocking details of the fake abduction, calling it a “calculated deception” designed to manipulate public opinion.
“We tracked him from the church to the hotel room he slept in. There was no abduction, just smoke , mirrors and political theatrics ,” Amin said during a fiery press conference at DCI headquarters.
Investigators say the MP, a close ally of ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, coordinated the fake abduction with his inner circle, including Juja CDF chairman Peter Kiratu, supermarket owner Cyrus Kieru Muhia, and Karanja Gatana.
According to police, the plan was carefully choreographed: A Subaru Forester , lent under the guise of ‘extra security,’ was used in the staged grab near a Mugutha church. Witnesses said the MP was dramatically bundled into the car as onlookers screamed — but insiders now say it was all part of the act.
“The MP gave the orders himself — even told the driver where to stop. This wasn’t a kidnapping. It was a political playbook move ,” police revealed.
Police were also blocked from questioning Koimburi while he was in hospital, raising even more eyebrows.
