Geoffrey Mosiria Goes After Pastor Ng’ang’a’s Church Over Ksh10 Million Land Rates

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment Geoffrey Morisia on Monday gave Neno Evangelism founder Pastor Ng’ang’a an ultimatum to pay Ksh10 million in land rates that the church owes the county.

Speaking after visiting the church’s premises to formally issue the land rate bill to the church, Mosiria urged the church to settle the amount by Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

“This ten-million debt that you owe the county, I kindly ask that you address it, even before Wednesday, so that we can continue providing services. The garbage you generate is collected by the county, and it needs to be paid for,” Mosiria stated.

The Nairobi County Environment Chief Officer said they will visit Neno Evangelism on Wednesday over the land rates.

At the same time, Pastor Ng’anga was told to produce the business permit and food handlers’ certificate for a restaurant being run by his church.

The Nairobi County officials threatened to close the restaurant if Pastor Nga’ang’a did not produce the two documents.

“Let your people go to city hall, apply for the business permit and food handlers’ certificate so that by the time I am coming back on Wednesday, it will be on display; otherwise, I am going to arrest somebody,” a county official said.

This comes days after Pastor Ng’ang’a slammed Nairobi County over intimidation in the land rates crackdown.

Ng’ang’a said he was not opposed to paying the dues, noting that he and other churches had been granted a waiver on land rates by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

“Since you took office, you’ve never given us a letter to cancel that. Write a letter to me revoking the waiver Sonko gave us. You can’t charge me for something that Sonko had waived,” said Nga’ang’a.

He added, “Ten million is nothing to me, even five million is trash to me, I could even give up my car.”
