EPRA Lists Petrol Stations Selling Adulterated Fuel

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Body (EPRA) on Wednesday, June 30, morning issued a list of petrol stations that are fond of selling adulterated fuel.

A total of eleven stations were nabbed selling fuel meant for export and some were found selling diluted fuel.

The investigation was conducted in a total of 1,237 stations where 99 per cent were found to be compliant but 11 were found to be selling unproper fuel.

Diluted fuel leads to the spoiling of motor vehicles and the regulator asked motorists to be cautious about where they purchase.

“The petrol stations that were found to be non-compliant are located in Nairobi, Marsabit, Meru, Trans Nzoia, Homabay, West Pokot, Migori, Nakuru, Kilifi, Meru and Lamu counties,” EPRA said in a statement.

It has also been established that some of the petrol stations were closed down and others even fined heavily in order to have them re-opened.

The Petrol stations that were found engaging in the business include; Zeemax energy station which is located in Marsabit, Mishemishe filling station in Meru, Shukran Filling station in Transzoia.
