Woman Charged After Burning Husband For Marrying Second Wife

A middle-aged woman was on Thursday arraigned at the Nyamira High Court accused of allegedly burning her husband to death in their house at Nyaronge village, Masaba North Sub-County.

According to the charge sheet, Jackie Kerubo was accused that on Christmas night, 2018, she allegedly set her husband on fire in their house because he had married another woman who was said to be favored by the mother-in-law.

Kerubo, who was before Justice Esther Maina narrated to the court how her marriage of 13 years took a twist for the worst after her husband stole all her tea bonus earnings and disappeared.

The 36-year-old, mother of four children however denied allegations saying that she only learnt about her husband’s demise after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reached to her to record a statement.

The hearing continues on November 12, 2019.
