UoN Lecturer Let Her Son Die And Rot In The House As Her Religion Doesn’t Allow Her In Hospital

A university lecturer was today arrested after the decomposing body of her 13-year-old son was found wrapped in a blanket in their house in Nairobi’s South B estate. The woman teaches at the University of Nairobi.

The caretaker of Kifaru Apartments in South B, alerted police after he saw a body wrapped in a blanket and lying in the sitting room.

Police broke down the door & the body of 13-year-old Emmanuel Solomon Inyama was found decomposing inside their house.

Police said they found the decomposing body of the son who has been a pupil at a private school in the city in their bedroom and wrapped in a blanket. It is not clear how long the body had stayed there.

After searching the house police found UoN lecturer, Anna Hotannah Khahugan, who is the boy’s mother hiding in the kitchen.

The woman told police the son fell and died in the house. She said she did not take him to the hospital because she does not believe in hospitals.

Police believe the woman is in a cult. She was detained at the Industrial Area Police Station ahead of a planned visit to a psychiatric for assessment of her mental status. This will determine the way forward of the case.

The remains of the boy were taken to the mortuary.
