MASHUJAA BEHIND THE SCENES
1. Last night, Raila who was in Mombasa was denied access to Statehouse Mombasa where the President was meeting Military Commanders.
2. He was asked to come for breakfast in the morning since that was the only time the President would be available.
3. At around 7:20am, Raila in the company of Joho and Amason Kingi arrive at Statehouse Mombasa
4. They are allowed in and led to the VIP guest room. They are served with tea but Raila insisted that they’d wait for the President so they can have joint breakfast.
5. They are at the State lodge until 9:30am without meeting the President.
6. Shortly later, they learn that Deputy President William Ruto had arrived on a Kenya Airforce Plane and had headed straight into the Statelodge where he held a closed door meeting with the President.
7. Raila, Joho and Kingi decide to head to the venue of Mashujaa.
8. Hours later, Ruto drives to the venue and followed shortly by Uhuru.
9. In the event, Raila was not included in the list of speakers that was prepared by Army commanders last night.
10. Joho breaks Protocol and invites Raila. The two speak about BBI and Handshake.
11. Later when the President and his Deputy spoke, they ignored BBI and handshake. They appeared to be reading from the same script.
12. Insiders say that Raila wasn’t happy about how the Deputy President beat them in their game.
13. Raila and Joho become bitter. They cancel plans to accompany the President to the luncheon but chose to retreat to Joho’s place for a review.
