Governor Ann Kananu Associates Arrested In Dubai With Sh500M From Kickbacks

Four associates of Nairobi Governor, Anne Kananu were arrested in Dubai with Sh 500 million that they could not explain the source.

The four, Allan Igambi, Winnie Gathangu, Martha Wangari, and Daniel Nguru – who are all senior Nairobi County officials, were arrested in Dubai with the money and they couldn’t explain the source.

Allan Esabwa Igambi, County Executive Committee Member for Finance and Economic Planning

Authorities in Dubai said the four were allegedly nabbed after picking up the colossal kickback which they intended to wire to Nairobi to help Governor Kananu in her campaigns.

Mainstream journalists from Citizen TV, NTV and KTN were given a handsome bribe to kill the story since it was viewed that the incident may taint the image of President Uhuru Kenyatta since Kananu is one of his governors.

According to multiple sources at City Hall, the officials together with Anne Kananu have been running a syndicate that demands kickbacks from county contractors for tender awards and also advance payment before their cheques are processed for payment.

The arrest of the four has opened a can of worms on the dealings of the governor whose office has been allocated Sh 2.5 billion for the period ending June 2022 for administrative functions only.
