This even as Commission for University Education (CUE) approved the VC’s papers that were obtained at the Patrice Lumumba People’s Friendship University in Russia.
Prof Njoka completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Agriculture (special Zootechny, animal products production technology) in 1993 at the Russian University.
Documents seen by The Standard further show that between 1984 and 1990, Prof Njoka studied the Russian language and passed the State examination.
Consequently, he was ‘granted the right to teach the Russian language at courses and circles of Russian.”
EACC however wants Prof Njoka to appear at the Isiolo office tomorrow (Wednesday, August 25) to give details on how he acquired his academic papers.
In response to EACC’s inquiry, CUE wrote that Prof Njoka completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Agriculture (special Zootechny, animal products production technology) in 1993 at the Russian university.
He had obtained a Masters of Science in Animal Husbandry degree in 1990. He had also done a postgraduate diploma in research in the same university.
But in a letter dated August 20 to the investigators, CUE said the Russian university is a recognised institution in Kenya.
CUE chief executive Mwenda Ntarangwi said the university is recognised by the Russian Federation and therefore qualifications awarded are also accepted in Kenya.
“The Commission hereby confirms that the said qualifications are authentic and therefore, duly recognised in Kenya,” reads the letter signed by Gilbert Opanga, on behalf of CUE Chief Executive.
Letters of correspondence indicate that the EACC has since earlier this year, written letters to various institutions requesting for information as it investigated the validity of the VCs academic papers.
On March 2, 2021, EACC wrote to Egerton University vice-chancellor asking for documents and information about Prof Njoka.
