Afristar Slashed African Staffers Salaries By 30% And Kept Sending Them Emails On How The Company Was Making Profits

Hello Cyprian,

I am an employee of Africa Star Railway and I want to let you know that nothing has been done yet.

When Covid-19 came, they made us sign another contract slashing our salaries to 30% just because there was a pandemic, which in my case, didn’t affect their operations. In fact, the government directed cargo going past Nairobi to be railed by the SGR.

October 2020 they made us take a Covid-19 test so we could go back to work but then cancelled when everyone was ready to resume. They claimed that there were positive cases, which were expected anyways, you wonder why they made us do it if they knew they would cancel.

(From left to right) deputy general manager Sammy Gachuhi, deputy manager of corporate culture Diana Kimani, deputy manager of corporate culture Olivia Mengich and manager of freight marketing David Mugo. The only African Afristar managers. They are used as slave-drivers and bow to Chinese.

The company sends newsletters on how the company is doing well and making a profit to employees who are home struggling, they even promote some who are already privileged to be working during the pandemic instead of giving them allowances and still send notices to those employees at home.

I can fearlessly tell you that those who are back working are the loyalist to the Chinese supervisors.
