Ugandan comedienne Anne Kansiime has confessed to aborting several pregnancies when she was still a student in campus.
While appearing on NTV’s ‘Bump Love’ show, which focuses on motherhood, Kansiime shared her journey where she revealed how she had many miscarriages in the recent past.
The comedienne said that she thought she was having miscarriages because God was punishing her for the pregnancies she terminated in campus.
“Miscarriage happens to people who never aborted in life but when you get a miscarriage of the child that you want whether you want it or not you start questioning yourself why and you find that there are reasons and they are there. I started counting how many times I aborted at campus and then started praying,” she said.
The comedienne further said that she thought she couldn’t have her own child because she was cursed by the many men she slept with and whose pregnancies she aborted.
“I started counting how many times I aborted at campus, I started praying prayers for all the men that I have ever imbibed. I was like ‘who cursed me?’ Then you are like ‘God you said when we ask for forgiveness we are forgiven’. And the truth is when you ask Him for a child He tells you yes,” Kansiime said.
“I thought that there could be some people out there with evil intentions trying to stop me from having children,” she added.
Kansiime blessed with baby boy
The popular Ugandan comedienne became a mother for the first time in April 2021 after struggling with childlessness for years. Her first husband reportedly divorced her because she couldn’t bear him a child.
After praying for many years, Kansiime was able to give birth to her son Selassie Ataho with her current husband Skylanta.
“I asked God to forgive me and I remember telling God that I want a child, I am retiring at 35 years and he answered my prayer and gave a child at 36 years old,” she said.
Kansiime divorced
Kansiime was previously married Gerald Ojok. The two exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony held in October 2013. Their marriage however didn’t stand the test of time.
The Ugandan comedienne in November 2017 publicly announced that her marriage to Ojok had hit rock bottom.
“OJ and me are not together anymore. Reasons why are not for anyone else to know but the two of us,” Kansiime wrote on social media.
Rumours had it that Kansiime’s inability to have a child was the reason why her marriage crumbled. At the time there were several claims that the comedienne was barren.
