Huddah Monroe Opens Up On Having A Child

Kenyan socialite Huddah Monroe has expressed her reluctance to embrace motherhood just yet.

In a Q&A on her Instastories on Sunday, October 6, 2024, responding to a fan’s query about her plans for children, the 30-year-old socialite noted that having children has not crossed her mind yet and that they are not her biggest life achievement.

“I have never really made up my mind. Having kids ain’t my biggest life achievement,” Huddah said.

Huddah’s advice

Huddah has often challenged societal norms, including the timing of parenthood. In June 2024, the socialite urged Africans to take a leaf from the playbook of the white community when it comes to deciding the right time for parenthood.

In a series of Instagram stories, she explained the importance of financial readiness before having children.

“Most African parents, just like most of you, gave birth in the belief that a child comes with their own blessings and their plate that you didn’t prepare for,” she stated.

Adding;

“That poverty mindset needs to be eradicated from the world. Many parents are aging, and some of their 40-year-old children are still trapped in the cycle of poverty they grew up in, largely due to unplanned parenthood. On top of that, these children now have their own kids—also unplanned—who need education, healthcare, and a stable home.”

Huddah highlighted the struggles many African families face, noting that ageing parents and unplanned children contribute to a cycle of poverty.

“And then there’s that parent who is also aging, who is getting old age sickness to take care of. When will this man or woman ever make it? Probably never! Then he dies poor because bills have finished him plus borrowing and debt, then the cycle continues,” she explained.

The socialite argued that this cycle prevents many Africans from achieving financial stability and prosperity.

“Tell me why white communities will never be a head? They plan for generations to come before having kids. Africans should do better. Say no to black tax,” Huddah said.

Huddah on having a child

While she said she will not have a child until she is ready, in July 2023, Huddah expressed a desire to have a child of her own, noting that she is the only one left.

While sharing the story of 37-year-old American actress Lindsay Lohan, who gave birth to her first child, Huddah shared her worries about being late on motherhood.

“At this point, I’m the only one left! Let me gather these eggs,” Huddah wrote on her Instastories.

In a past Q&A session with her fans, the socialite addressed critics who claimed that she would hit menopause without having a child of her own.

Huddah expressed her displeasure with women thinking that they must have children through birth, noting that there were many street children and orphans who one could mother as their own.

“I don’t know the only purpose of a woman on earth is to give birth. So that doesn’t bother me; I never even thought of it. There are too many homeless kids with no mothers or parents, so you could still mother them. Being a mother is to nurture or bring up,” she explained.
