How Socialites Are Surviving During This Pandemic

They live their lives in the public eye. Their adoring fans can never get enough of their antics, good or bad, and their actions are scrutinised more than those of the ordinary man and woman.

However, with the coming of Covid-19, even the lives of the celebrities and socialites have changed drastically.

Vera Sidika

Kenyan socialite Vera Sidika is known for living her life on the lap of luxury and fame; a flashy lifestyle, tours around the world and rubbing shoulders with some of the most renown celebrities.

However, the Corona pandemic happened and she has been spending her time at home, of course not the typical life of a socialite.

A while back, it was rumoured that International singer Tory Lanez tried to engage Vera through his midnight Instagram live ‘Club Quarantine’ by requesting her to join the live video.

However, Kenyans called her out as they strongly stated that she was in need of connecting with him by actively commenting on the live video as it progressed.

Days after, she created her own live show, ‘Sin City’ and  tried engaging her IG crowd, but  it all went down the drain due to some technical glitches.

In a span of 10 minutes she had over 42,000 viewers hoping to get the action.

All was not lost as last weekend she managed to attract over 50,000 viewers in her live video as her concept was quite similar to that of Tory Lanez and Kenyan YouTuber Xtiandela’s background music, while she had selected a few ladies to twerk on her live video.

Not many were impressed, but she managed to get interactive members  until 4:30 am.

Bridget Achieng

As for Bridget Achieng, who is now a mum and a business owner, she has been busy helping the less privileged in Kibera.

“The government says it has done alot in assisting the poor during this pandemic, but it’s contrary to what I have seen.

After I heard a case of a child being knocked down by a car because he was trying to get some food across the road,  I was touched and I wanted to help,” she told Spice.

With the help of her friends and family she donated food and bar soaps to 50 families in the slum.

“It is all about helping the needy during this epidemic and putting our lives on hold for a minute.

I lost over Sh15 million while planning NaiFest because Corona happened. That, however, will not stop me. I will assist the needy the best way I can,” she added

Black Cinderella

Black Cinderella, this year’s cast of local TV show, Nairobi Diaries is known for being real and calling out fake artists and celebrities. She admits that this pandemic has made life difficult for her.

“Recently, I was robbed by a guy who had won a face mask,” she says. She says her job has also been slightly affected since she cannot physically meet with her crew.

“We are, however, planning as the Nairobi Diaries family to come together and something for the less privileged in the community,” she offers.

Trisha Khalid

Trisha Khalid a coastal based personal blogger, fashionista, entrepreneur, influencer, model, brand ambassador and actress says her daily life has significantly been affected by the pandemic.

Being a business woman and owner at T-trendy collection and Tee’s beauty world, the Instar beauty says it is such a pity that everything has come to a standstill.

She has not been able to make as much money as before. She says adding that the pandemic has stood in the way of new contracts being signed and missing out on endorsements for her.

 Sasha Diva

Things are also not different for socialite, musician and beautician Sasha Diva. Speaking to Spice, she said: “things are very tough because as a beautician income depends on the clients who come in and as per now, most do not have the money or request to pay later.”

The Cheza Munyeso singer also admitted that her music has also been put on hold despite having a number of recorded songs that need to be released.

Twahir Faiz Marie

Better known as King Pablo, a model, actor and currently the newest cast of this year’s season of Nairobi Diaries has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Everything that I worked hard for has been put on pause, no shows and evets,” he says.

Also known for his fashionable picture and lifestyle on his various social media platforms, King Pablo says he is, however, trying to find a silver lining in all this.
