‘Hatutaki Advise Zenyu,’ Kalenjin Musician Vicky Brilliance Reunites With Husband Amid Domestic Violence Claims

In a twist more dramatic than any of her soulful ballads, Kalenjin music sensation Vicky Brilliance has stunned fans by reuniting with her husband, Silas Kiplangat, famously known as Baba Boys.

The reunion comes just months after publicly accusing him of domestic abuse and walking away from their troubled marriage.

Their unexpected reconciliation played out like a live music video, unfolding on stage at the electric Kalenjin Beats Takeover concert in Nairobi.

Fresh from her musical tour in Qatar, Vicky emerged radiant, rocking new artificial dreadlocks in place of her signature bob cut, and was greeted with roars of excitement as she embraced Baba Boys under the flashing stage lights.

The DJ amped up the moment, urging them on with chants of “One more hug!” as the crowd went wild.

The on-stage reunion sparked speculation online, which Vicky soon confirmed with a series of cryptic but telling social media posts.

On TikTok, she shared her song “Achome Gaa” (I Love My Home), with lyrics that now seemed autobiographical, “I love being at home. Here there are no scandals and no getting lost… There’s respect when you have your own home with one husband and your children.”

And in a heartfelt Facebook reflection, she opened up about her pain, “I went through a lot, every type of pain. Family issues, trust issues, heartbreak, depression. I faced it all alone, but I never gave up.”

It’s a comeback story that has left fans in awe, with many flooding her pages to declare their “faith in love restored.”

But just two months earlier, the singer’s love life had taken a dark turn. In February, weeks after scooping KSh1.8 million at the Kalenjin Music Festival Awards, she made headlines for a different reason, exposing a harrowing side of her marriage that had long remained hidden behind closed doors.

“The truth is, I’ve been in hell,” she wrote on social media. “When he gets drunk, he beats me in front of fans… and after I built our mansion, someone advised him to throw me out.”

She claimed she handed over her entire festival prize money to Baba Boys for the construction of their marital home, only to be betrayed once the house was complete.

The accusations didn’t end there. She revealed that her husband allegedly slapped their four-year-old son and once threatened her with a machete.

“Imagine being assaulted in front of your child with a panga. So traumatising!” she lamented.

Baba Boys, however, offered a different version of events. In a TikTok live interview, he denied ever laying a hand on her, saying the real reason for their rift was her controversial music video for “Omisenin”, which featured her ex-lover, renowned music producer DJ Wesso, as the lead vixen.

“I was upset. I told her it was inappropriate and risked ruining her image. That was the problem, not violence,” he claimed, adding that discovering Wesso’s number saved in her phone had long been a source of conflict.

He insisted Vicky had left their home voluntarily, not because he threw her out.

Adding to the emotional turmoil was pressure from Vicky’s own family. Her mother, in a leaked conversation, reportedly warned her against leaving her marriage now that success had come knocking.

“We will disown you if you leave him. Marriage is for life, take the good with the bad. Don’t let us down.”

Despite the controversy, Vicky has continued to rise musically. She first broke into the limelight in 2021 with her hit “Motiwe” (Don’t Go), and her viral anthem “Wababa” has since clocked over 2.4 million YouTube views.

Offstage, she is also a flourishing entrepreneur in the fashion industry.
