Ex United Insurance Boss Charged Over Land Fraud

The former United Insurance boss George Ngure Kariuki was Tuesday arrested and arraigned in Ngong law court over land fraud.

Ngure, 72, who was arraigned before principal magistrate Irene Ruguru, was sued by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on counts of revoking a title deed of a piece of land he sold to David Mahugu and giving false information to state on the same account.

“On 31st March 2015 at Kajiado North lands office within Kajiado subcounty Ngure informed the land registrar Kajiado North, a person employed by the public service the land parcel Kajiado/Kipeto/1452 was fraudulently transferred to David Mahugu Thondu while he still has the original title deed and he has never offered it for sale information that was false,” reads part of the charge.

Ngure is accused of selling 15 acres of land to Mahugu issued him with a title deed of 10 acres which he revoked upon receiving payment.

Kajiado land and physical planning county executive committee member Hamilton Parseina says the county is focused to bring to book fraudsters grabbing land through dubious means.

Residents laud the initiative by the DCI to take up the land fraud matter saying corruption at the national ministry of land has barred innocent land buyers from getting justice.

Sources in the DCI has revealed that high profile cases involving the fraudsters syndicate are being profiled pending prosecution.

Ngure case will be mentioned on 7th April and was released on a Sh200, 000 cashbail.
