Judge Kantai Seeks To Halt Probe Over Cohen Murder Link

Court of Appeal Judge Sankale ole Kantai has moved to court to stop summons by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), over his alleged involvement in the murder of Dutch national Tob Cohen.

In his bid to scuttle the trial, Sankale  has moved to the High Court seeking to restrain  JSC from interrogating him and recommending his  removal from office as a judge.

Through lawyer Peter Wanyama, Sankale  yesterday urged the court to suspend the exercise, saying his right would  be prejudiced if he is taken through the JSC process.

On December 1, 2021 Sankale wrote to JSC requesting it not to consider the question of removing him from office on account of allegations that he was involved in the murder of Cohen.

Justice Anthony Mrima did not give any orders barring JSC from interrogating the judge. He fixed the matter for ruling on January 24.
