The current board wars at National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority (NWHSA) between Erick Okeyo and acting Chief Executive officer (CEO) Sharon Obonyo, the authority’s Chief Legal Affairs officer is now exposing ill happening at the Parastatal.

According to one board member, it all started when the board revoked the appointment of Engineer Geofrey Sang as acting CEO last year. By then Sang was accused of being sympathetic to Deputy President William Ruto Tanga tanga faction in the Jubilee government.null

After the removal of Sang, which Obonyo was the architect Okeyo started pushing for the recruitment of a new CEO immediately.

Informed sources say, both Okeyo and Obonyo were pushing for a certain engineer to land the slot.

However, to be favoured as it is usual in Kenya, oiling of a section of directors was necessary. A section of the board was recruited.

We have information the engineer was told part with a certain down payment as facilitation fee was given.

We have information it was to be shared among three influential members of the board.

Sharon Obonyo.

For now, it is emerging one of those involved pocketed the down payment.

Another issue rotates around Sh.231, 114, 902.64 construction of a dam in Turkana. It was awarded to J&K Investments Kenya Ltd. Robert Kithinji, a director with J&K Investments and Engineer David Gitau of NWHSA signed the contract.

The dam project involves construction of a Sh.18 million dam made of clay ore and shell materials. After Sang removal, J&K Investments directors penetrated the board and are dealing with one camp, sidelining another hence the bitter wars being experienced.

Sources say, Obonyo and Okeyo feuds have seen Cabinet Secretary Water and Sanitation Sicily Kariuki take sides in the wars.

All is happening as top management and section of firms out to win tenders cry foul. Confidential docements are now being leaked in tender awards, some allies linked to board of directors.

Okeyo.

But what is to shock Kenyans most is the behind the scenes intrigues on the multi-billion shillings Koru Soin dam. Sucked in the project is Water and Sanitation Principal Secretary Josepph Irungu who is close to Okeyo.

The Soin Koru Dam is located in Kisumu and kericho counties along River Nyando.null
