Kisii Governor Ongwae Implicated In Academic Papers Forgery

A forgery case of a former chief campaigner of Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has turned political as the Governor is implicated.

During the hearing of the appeal before Justice Esther Maina, Deputy Human Resource manager at Kisii county government testified that Evans Nyaoga’s employment in 2014 emanated from the office of the governor and did not present any papers during employment.

Linet Nyanchama testified that Nyaoga was being rewarded for having campaigned for Ongwae in 2013.

The court also heard that he worked there until he was sacked in 2017. This is alleged to have been due to change of political allegiance from ODM to Jubilee party to vie for MCA seat.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is also seeking to receive the over Sh 3 million he earned working at the county on allegation that he presented fake academic papers.

Nyaoga opposes the same saying he worked for the said money and never presented any fake papers.

KIM’s testimony

Another witness, Maureen Busolo who is the Head examinations at Kenya Institute of management testified that the certificate held by Nyaoga was fake.

During cross-examination by Nyaoga’s lawyer Danstan Omari, the witness said she did not have an original certificate to compare the fake one to. However, she pointed that it had elements to show it was not genuine.

“This fake certificate does not have an admission number where it is supposed to be,” Busolo testified.

Omari told the witness that his client never generated the said certificate. He also never presented it to the county government of Kisii.

Governor Ongwae is being accused of handing the said certificate to the EACC.

The court heard that Nyaoga could not have forged the certificate. This is because he never applied for the job at the county government.

Nyaoga was charged before Kisii Chief MAgistrates court with five counts of offences.

Kisii Chief Magistrate N. S Lutta found him guilty of forging and using a Certificate and a Diploma in Human Resource Management.

He was fined Sh 500,000 or serve one year in jail.
