Former Nairobi County Executive Committee Member Veska Kangogo has been elected as a director of Kenya Power.
All former directors who were defending their positions at the board were kicked out in a major surgery by shareholders on Friday.
Vivienne Yeda was kicked out as chairman of the board as President William Ruto’s key allies won elections.
Kangongo, an ally of Ruto, unsuccessfully, ran for the Uasin Gishu UDA ticket for governor.
A statement from Kenya Power said on Saturday that Kangogo garnered 980,732,882 votes to become one of the seven directors.
The statement was signed by company secretary Imelda Bore.
Also elected were Brenda Masinde who garnered 982,289,124 votes, Logan Hambrick(983,462,853), Albert Mugo(985,278,960) and Duncan Ojwang’ who scored 1,002,565,056 votes.
Dr. Ojwang’ is a city lawyer who was part of Ruto’s presidential petition legal team and who has been a frequent TV commentator.
In the run up to the elections he used to provide political perspectives on Ruto’s possible victory.
Others were National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njoroge Ndung’u (1,044,813,650) and his Energy counterpart Alex Wachira who garnered 1,044,859,288.
Justice Aaro Ringera who was defending his position was kicked out as a director after garnering 63,460,589 votes.
Also unsuccessful in defending his seat was James Gitiba who garnered 67,005,336 votes and Sarah Mbwaya who scored 69,069,523 votes.
Albert Rotich managed 25,928,035 votes.
