GRAFT: Bungoma Governor Agrees To Pat MCAs With Sh150K Each To Go Slow On His Coronavirus Scam

Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati is secretly buying local MCAs not to pursue the corona virus scam. Each MCAs that agrees is being paid Sh150,000 to go slow. MCAs in Bungoma county are accusing Wangamati of purchasing 600, 20-litre jerricans at a cost of Sh10,000 each.

If this is true, then this will go down as another grand ripoff by the leadership of Bungoma county. According to documents, people withdrew Sh776,223 from the county government’s bank accounts in a single day. “The big withdrawals are very suspect and are in violation of public procurement law.

Wangamati’s mentor DP Ruto.

Anything above Sh10,000 requires tendering and we don’t withdraw cash to pay suppliers. The money should be wired,” stated the manager at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Bungoma office. Sources in the county government offices revealed that the Sh10,000 jerricans were bought in Nairobi at a fraction of the cost that was in contention. “The move by armed police officers barring members of county assembly from accessing the house and exercising their oversight role in Bungoma county is criminal, regrettable, shameful, and backward and an uttermost display of leadership paucity by the executive,” a source said.

MCAs failed to access the county assembly after police from Bungoma barricaded their precincts armed to the teeth to stop MCAs from accessing their area of operation. The MCAs had scheduled to question county government officials in respect to the shilling Sh11million jerricans scandal that has dominated headlines in the middle of the Coronavirus scourge.
