Expect M-Pesa disruption on Tuesday for maintenance

All M-Pesa services including airtime purchase shall be temporarily unavailable from Tuesday 11:59pm to 4:00am on Wednesday for a planned maintenance.

In a statement, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said the timing of the maintenance activity has been planned to result in the least of inconvenience to customers.

“We are constantly investing and innovating M-Pesa to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our customers as well as continue to support our partners in their business ambitions,” Ndegwa added.

On Sunday, detectives from DCI arrested a man who vandalised Safaricom telecommunication equipment calculated to be over Sh2 million.

The detectives said Lenny Ng’ang’a, who has been masquerading as a Safaricom engineer, was arrested by police and the equipment confiscated.

Ng’ang’a is said to have been carrying out illegal maintenance missions and had gained access to a transmitter station in Murang’a after convincing the guard to let him in.
