52 people have so far been confirmed lifeless after they were buried alive following landslides in Nyarkulian and Parua villages in West Pokot County.
By yesterday, According to West Pokot County Commissioner Apollo Okello, 15 bodies have already been retrieved from the rubble while the search for 22 or more bodies proceeds.
Dwellers of Nyarkualin and Parua villages are yet to come to terms with the loss after their neighbors, friends and families were swept and buried alive by landslides.
Rescue efforts are still ongoing after it emerged that several people are still missing but attempts to locate them have been hampered by raging floods.
Roads have been rendered impassable while bridges have collapsed making it difficult for the rescue team to access some areas.
Okello says more people could be trapped.
The government is assisting the survivors, with food while planning to relocate them to safer grounds are in progress.
Area leaders are also calling for more humanitarian support to help the affected families.
The Kenya Meteorological department has warned that heavy rains will continue for the next 5 days in many parts of the Country and urged Kenyans to remain cautious.
