Sonko Pledges Sh600K Reward For Anyone With Info Leading To Arrest Of Kisii Villains Who Gouged Out Baby Sagini’s Eyes

Ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has pledged KSh600,000 to police officers who’ll eliminate a criminal gang said to have gouged out the eyes of a three-year-old boy in Ikuruma village, Marani, Kisii County

Baby Sagini was attacked on Thursday. He reportedly went missing while en route to a river to fetch water, accompanied by her seven-year-old sister.

Mary Kemunto, the boy’s aunt recounted: “Ilikuwa saa kumi na moja ikiendelea mpaka usiki…wakaanza kutafuta mtoto, hawakumpata. Ndio mtoto wa ndugu yangu akaenda akaita nyanya akamwambia tumepata mtoto kwa shamba hana macho.”

The minor was taken to Kisii Eye Hospital, where he is recuperating. Doctors say he has permanently lost sight in one eye.

DCI detectives handling the case said there was minimal blood at the place where baby Sagini was later found abandoned [at a neighbour’s maize farm], suggesting that the cruel act could have been carried out elsewhere.
