I’ll Name My Abductors, Itumbi Vows

Deputy President William Ruto’s Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi has been discharged after 10 days of hospitalisation at the Nairobi West Hospital.

Mr itumbi, who was reported missing on the evening of December 23, 2021, said he has forgiven those who subjected him to torture but will reveal the identity of his abductors in February at a church.

“Then, before man and God, I am, going to give this story as it was,” he said, adding that he was at the mercy of the abductors for seven hours.

He said the intention of the abductors was to have him change his political stance.

Speaking minutes after his discharge, he said his belief in the “hustler narrative” had not changed whatsoever.

“I am unshaken and my belief in the hustler narrative has not changed,” he said.

Mr Itumbi suffered multiple injuries and fractures and has been undergoing treatment for polytrauma (multiple trauma).

“When I came here 10 days ago, I was in serious pain,” he recounted.

Kidnapped in Thindigua

The blogger was allegedly kidnapped in Thindigua area on Kiambu Road. He would be found hours later, with his friends saying he had been beaten.

The alleged abductors are also said to have grabbed Mr Itumbi’s phone before he was bundled into a vehicle and driven towards Nairobi central business district.

Witnesses claim Mr Itumbi was leaving a barber shop when the incident happened.

A police report indicated that the alleged kidnapping happened two kilometres from Thindigua Police Post and officers immediately sent out a signal.

Mr Itumbi, a former State House staffer, has been viciously attacking President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration via his social media.

On December 30, the Deputy President visited him in hospital and blamed the state for the alleged abduction scheme that left Mr Itumbi nursing injuries.

“I spent time with Itumbi last evening, saw his heavily bandaged arm and legs, the result of torture by people who should have been there to protect him and us all,” Dr Ruto tweeted, adding that the torture subjected to his ally was meant to silence people supporting his presidential bid.
